Peace Out

Leih deih hou?!

I got a few minutes to email today because our flight leaves early tomorrow and we won't have any time then.
District with our teacher Gou Ji Muih (Sister Crook) She's THE BEST!!
Look we match!

Well I'm peacing out to Hong Kong in less than 24 hours!! Still doesn't feel real. Probably won't hit me till we land. But I couldn't be more excited! The MTC has been awesome and I've loved it and learned so much, but I can't wait to get out there and get to work!

Southeast Asia or Bust!!! #zonepic
This week has been great - just tying up lose ends, dominating in one last game of lighting and four square, packing, saying goodbyes, trying to cram some extra language study in and lots of praying that somehow I've learned at least some of what I need to here.

It's one of those things where you can just never be fully prepared. No matter how many hours you spend here at the MTC, there are just some things that you just have to learn out in the field. Am I fully prepared to head to Hong Kong? Ha. No.. But am I ready to get out there and try to figure it out? Sure am!

The Thai Sisters. They're amazing!
Check back with me after a week or so, but I'm super excited to just get there and make all kinds of great mistakes! This week we were in our last lesson with one of our investigators and we were going over the baptismal interview questions, and I was trying to explain what the baptismal interview was and how it would work. And so I told her that she would meet with our "deih kauh" leader, who was another missionary, for the interview before she could be baptized. Well the real word for district in "deih keuih" and "deih kauh" means "earth." So I basically told her she must meet with our "earth leader" before she could be baptized... She thought that was pretty funny... (Some deih keuih leaders think they are deih kauh leaders. But ours is great!)

We're homies
I'm sure there will be things like that happening ALL the time when I get to HK! But stuff like that is hilarious so it's going to be great! I've learned so much more than I ever could have hoped to here at the MTC, all through the Lord's help. And I'm still going to get to HK and wonder what language they've been teaching me here at the MTC, but I'm just ready to get to work!

Elder Holland gave a talk here at the MTC that they show a recording of on Sunday nights. In it he says, "This is Real Life. Capital R, capital L. Stop talking about the outside world as "real life" because this is as real as your life is ever going to get. You will never do anything more important than serving a mission. You will do things equally important - like getting married and raising a family - but there is nothing on this Earth that is more important that missionary work. It is the work that the Lord set apart for himself. It is what He does, every minute of every hour of every day. And for a short time you get to do the same."

I'm not going to give you the "every member a missionary" speech because you've already heard it and you already know. But I promise that we are happiest when Christ is the center of our lives and we are focused on bringing others unto Him (in whatever capacity that is) because that is what "Real Life" is about.

I just have so much gratitude for the opportunity that I have to take just a little time and head to Hong Kong to do what I can to help Him with His work. It's already been an incredible experience (even in Provo, who would have thought?) and I can't even begin to image what the next 16 months will hold, but I'm sure excited to find out!
With our other teacher, Hahng Ji Muih (Sis. Heaton) also THE BEST!!
Be happy! Laugh a lot! Remember to do the little things! Tuhng maih geidak Sahn ngoi leih deih!
