| Okay. So waffles here are probably even more amazing than any waffle I've ever had. They put this peanut butter sauce and sweet and condensed milk on it and it's incredible! You know I'm in heaven. |
It's been an interesting week, but sure has built my testimony in the power of and reality of the priesthood. It's powerful, and it's real. I sure am glad that we as members of God's true church are able to receive the blessings promised when we keep our covenants.
The story of the Brother of Jared is definitely one of my favorites. In Ether 2:25 we read, "And behold, I prepare you against these things; for ye cannot cross this great deep save I prepare you against the waves of the sea, and the winds which have gone forth, and the floods which shall come..."
True that. We can't cross this "great deep" of life without being prepared and sustained by the Savior. The waves and the seas and the winds are real and powerful. But, His power is greater and when we receive His strength and power, we can get through it.
Ether 2:25 cont. "...Therefore what will ye that I should prepare for you that ye may have light when ye are swallowed up in the depths of the sea?"
The Lord doesn't say that he will withhold the wind and floods and storms. He straight up tells the brother of Jared that he's going to get swallowed up in the depths of the sea. But the Lord is willing to help him. And I love that the Lord doesn't give him the answer, but he knows that the brother of Jared needs light to get through this. So do we. If we are to get though this mortal journey that often seems so dark, we need the light of Christ.
Fast forward to Ether 6. They get rocked. All kinds of storms and terrible tempests and all that kind of stuff. But…in Ether 6:10 we read,"...no monster of the sea could break them, neither whale that could mar them; and they did have light continually, whether it was above the water or under the water."
It's all about light. We need it. Whether we are above the water of under it. So how do we get it? Everyone has the light of Christ within them. So I guess the real question is how do you keep it bright? There's all kind of things that we need to do, but this week I really was able to understand that it all comes down to our covenants. When we keep our covenants we are able to receive the light of Christ. And the thing that's so great about the light of Christ is that is outshines the darkness of the adversary 10 out of 10 times. That's 100%. All day, every day. It's the real deal.
D&C 50:24-25 "That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day. And again, verily I say unto you, and I say it that you make know the truth, that you may chase darkness from among you."
How grateful I am for the light of Christ. When we have it we are protected against any storm or wind or flood or terrible tempest that may come our way. And we know they come because that's part of the plan. But with His light we can overcome all things. When we do the little things we can grow that light within us and it will be come brighter and brighter!
Ngoh HOU ngoi leih deih!
Love y'all a WHOLE lot.
Love,
SisMoRob
