Started off the week with some Korean BBQ with the district! Sister Johnson is heading back to the ol' red white and blue next week so we had to celebrate! And what better way to celebrate that cooking all kinds of raw pieces of meat and sea creatures in the middle of a table? It was a good time.

It's really quite simple. You take the meat… (The weird looking thing on the upper right side is the cow tongue.)

…and then you cook it and eat it.
I ate cow tongue, so that was cool. It's actually really good! I quite enjoyed it! So maybe something to look into. Probably not something you'll find in your local Dick's market, but it's quite delicious. :)

I live with the three best missionaries in Hong Kong. So there you have it folks.
Cool story: My first week here we contacted this super cute lady. She was just chilling, waiting for a bus wearing a white dress and really to be quite honest looked angelic. I still really had no clue what I was doing with the language or how to talk to anybody, but I went over (with some encouragement from Sister Chan) and talked to her. So you can image how cool it was to learn her name was Angel! Ya. Coincidence? I think not. She was SUPER nice but not totally stoked about anything too gospel related, but was really interested in our free English class. So we exchanged numbers, she hopped on her bus and we went our way.
Long story short, we called her a few times the following week and she never answered. Typical.
So we were going through our old list of potential investigators a couple weeks ago and Sister Chan called her up. She answered! Not only did she answer, but she told us that she had a friend who told her that she needs to come to our church. She said that she would come and bring her 7 year old son in 2 weeks! We were really confused about who her friend was, but she told us that it was our church and that she would be there, so we just rolled with it!
So Sunday rolls around and she's a no show. We called her a few times and no answer. But after church she called us and was like, "I'm here, where are you?" Turns out her friend told her to go to this Christian Revival church that was right below our apartment, about 3 blocks from our chapel. But she told us she really wanted to meet us and wanted to check out our church, so we met up with her. We gave her a tour of the church and had a lesson with her and her son!
She has an incredible story! Turns out she's Vietnamese. Comes from a VERY poor family and stopped going to school at the age of 8 to help support her family. She ended up working in China and married a man from Hong Kong and now has a 7 year old son. He husband left her and she didn't think she's be able to stay in Hong Kong because of her Visa. Through many incredible miracles she was able to find a job and a place to stay in a ridiculously short amount of time. As she's telling us this story she just keeps acknowledging God's hand in everything and how much he's blessed her. Finally she tells us how she knows it was God's plan for her to meet with us that day by the bus stop and how she wants to know more about our church.
We were just in awe!! Most the people we talk to don't even believe in God. We excitedly scheduled to go visit her in her home this week!
Moral of the story:
1. Heavenly Father's got it. He's got a plan and He makes it happen for his children that He has prepared.
2. By small and simple things great things come to pass.
Missionary work is just the greatest. You never know what could come from what seem as meaningless interactions with the people around you.
I left after contacting her with no real hope that we would end up teaching her. You have no idea how many moms act like they're interested in English class and then never answer their phones again. But that was a lesson for Sister Robinson that she needs to have a whole lot more faith in a perfect Heavenly Father who has a perfect knowledge of everything.
So take each opportunity you have to share even something little about your beliefs with those around you. It may seem insignificant, but you just never know what might happen!
LOVE YA ALL. That's all for now.
Love,
SisMoRob
