Alright. Can I just start by acknowledging the fact that GREAT blessings come from serving a mission?
BIG SHOUT OUT TO MY AGGIES! I'll leave it at that because I'm a missionary. I don't want to say anything I'll have to repent of later. :)
Man it was a week of miracles!
We started the week out with some good ol' less active finding. Which really to be honest doesn't usually go that well. Most of the people we try to visit won't let us up into their building. If somehow we make it into the building, they've either moved or slam the door in our face. So that's usually how that goes.
BUT. This was #miracleweek! We knocked on this one lady's door and miracle #1. Someone was actually home. Miracle #2. They opened the door. Miracle #3. They were actually the person we were looking for. Miracle #4. She actually talked to us and didn't slam the door in our face. Miracle #5. She invited us in. Miracle #6. She introduced us to her whole family. Miracle #6. She invited us to eat dinner with her family. Miracle #7. They let us teach them a lesson afterwards. Miracle #8. We were able to reschedule her.
So that's like 8 miracles all in one less active visit! (And there were definitely more if I thought about it for long enough, but we'll stick with 8 for sake of time)
Maybe in some missions that's just whatever, but here that NEVER HAPPENS! So the Lord is very mindful of His children.
Our investigators are keeping their commitments and progressing like champs! We had SIX investigators at church on Sunday! Which never really happens either, so that was awesome! #miracle (I should probably knock on wood because I've heard the hardest weeks always come after the best weeks…but it's always a good week when you're serving the Lord and His children!)
Another cool experience we had this week was in a lesson with a member referral. It was with a couple who is Protestant, which you don't get a whole lot of here in Hong Kong. Every now and then you'll talk to someone who is Christian, but most people even if they are don't know too much about it. This lady sure did.
They were super nice, but had A LOT of questions. They were pretty chill about everything till we started talking about the Book of Mormon and they just weren't having it. We taught the restoration and they were pretty hesitant about it all.
I've read the Book of Mormon. I knew that it was true. I knew it was an important book, but it all became very real as we were teaching this couple.
Sure. Joseph Smith's experience is something that you really don't hear every day. Some people think it's crazy. People who have a strong belief in the Bible don't believe that we have more scripture and the concept of a modern day prophet is mh dak.
The only way to know is to read the Book of Mormon and then pray to ask Heavenly Father if it's true.
That's it.
There's a quote in Preach My Gospel by Ezra Taft Benson that says something along the lines of, if the Book of Mormon is true, then Jesus Christ is our Redeemer, Joseph Smith is a prophet, The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints is true and is led today by a living prophet who continues to receive revelation today. (That's not word for word. Sorry.)
But it's so true. It all hangs on the Book of Mormon.
It's like a giant domino maze thing where if you knock one over everything else falls. If the Book of Mormon is true, then through association, everything else is true too! That's why it's so important!
It just clicked for me right there how simply important the Book of Mormon is and how simply true it is. I knew it before, but the spirit was there and it just made sense. The Book of Mormon is the evidence. Read it and you'll know.
So there you have it. It's all right there. Right in that book. The Book of Mormon is true. How grateful I am that the Lord gave us this book. It is the most correct book of any on Earth. It's teachings are beautiful and so very true.
I'm so grateful for the opportunity that I have to walk around Hong Kong with this book, testifying of the reality of our Savior Jesus Christ. It's a pretty good deal. Sure, it's hard. But it's hard because it's real and true and right. And I've never been happier!
Love you always!
