Nothing Stops the Work of the Lord!

What a week!! If you've heard about the protest stuff, don't worry about it! All us missionaries are safe, staying far away and just doing our thing. Nothing stops the work of the Lord!

All-you-can-eat and more!!!
Monday after emailing we had quite the experience. We went as a district to get some dim sum. Basically you walk in this room that's jam packed with tables, dishes and really loud Chinese people all talking (which really sounds more like yelling at each other) and eating who knows what.

So after you sit down at your table, you have to wash all your own dishes in hot water, because apparently they don't do a good enough job? (Which probably is a pretty good indicator that you shouldn't be eating there anyways...) And then they have these sheets with lists of all the food they serve. It's one of those deals where you just pay to get in and then it's basically all you can eat and then some. So you just tell them how much you want of everything and they bring it out to you. Since Sister Chan is the only one of us who could read characters, she just started ordering all this crazy stuff and they just kept bringing it out!

DIM SUM
I can honestly say that I have no clue what 78% of the things I ate were, but it was all pretty good! But it was SO much food!!! They just kept bringing it…and we just kept eating... and they kept bringing...and we kept eating...Let's just say none of us felt very good after. But when in Hong Kong, do as the Chinese, right? It was a good time!

A Chicken Foot!
So, I ate the foot of a chicken. Which is quite the experience! They are at least nice enough to clip off the nails, and then they just cook the foot of the chicken in that Chinese sauce that tastes like all the other Chinese sauces.  Then people just eat it. They stick it in their mouth and suck all the skin off and then spit the bones back out. There you have it.  Really it just tastes like what you think the foot of a chicken would taste like. Just kind of webby skin in Chinese sauce. Not a favorite, but it's not as bad as you'd think it is.

As for the missionary work, it's been a good week! We're seeing lots of miracles and the work is moving along!

With Sister Karchner, my Zone 24 Companion
We had Zone 24's which is where you do a 24 hour exchange with someone in your zone. I was the only one in our zone who came this transfer who stayed in their area to be the senior companion. It was quite the adventure. My companion was a Sister who has only been out for 3 months.

Let's just say that we did a whole lot of relying on the Spirit! And it was AWESOME! It was a really big confidence builder to realize that when you really rely on the Lord and do your best that He makes things happen. I have the most amazing trainer in the whole world. She has taught me very well. It was cool to be able to put it all into action and realize that when I rely on the Spirit, I can actually do this. We did a lot of finding that day, and people were actually willing to stop and talk to us! Listen to us. And then they were willing to give us their contact information. And then we were actually able to reschedule some of them! Which really doesn't happen a whole lot, so we were stoked!

As for the Tsuen Wan area, we just recently started teaching a whole family! Our investigator with a baptismal date, came to Sacrament meeting on Sunday and then was able to stay and attend a baptismal service. It was really awesome to see how excited she got about it and to see her real desire to be baptized. She is still VERY busy, but we're working with her and contacting her often and trying to meet with her as much as possible.

The Lord really is so mindful of us. When we align our will with His we can do anything through the enabling power of the Atonement. That's one thing I was reminded of this week. The atonement is something that we use ever hour of every day. It is through the atonement that we are able to accomplish the things that we are unable to do on our own. Like talk to people in Hong Kong about a loving Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ.

The Atonement is real. Heavenly Father wants to help us a whole lot more than I think we give him the opportunity to. He is our Father. We are His children. He knows us by name. He knows our weaknesses and our strengths. He knows our wishes and desires. When we turn it all over to Him and do all that we can do, He takes care of it and good things happen!

I love you all! Keep on keeping on! Remember to do the little things!

Love always,
SisRob
Oh. And we broke our streak and went to McDonalds for the first time. So that was monumental. So we took a picture.
