A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words

Happy Jung Chau Jit everybody! Bet ya didn't know, but this last week was the Mid Autumn Moon Festival! Something about the full moon and a woman and lanterns... I don't really know what it's all about. Lots of that kind of stuff gets lost in translation. Really all I know is that everybody is busy and we somehow ended up with 14 moon cakes. (More about those later...) But hope you're all doing great and life is going good!

Things are rolling right along here in HK! I love it more every day! It truly is great to be in the service of the Lord and the fact that I get to do it in such an incredible place makes it that much better!

It's been a comp goal to take more pictures, so I'll mix it up a little and try to tell about our week a little more through pictures!

This is the view from one of our favorite modes of transportation: the syu ba! (Little Bus) My mission will be a success if I make it through without getting hit by a bus. You think I'm kidding, but really! The drivers here are crazy!!! We take these little buses, the MTR (the train system here in HK) or walk to get to just about every place we need to get to.

Due to Jung Chau Jit lots of people were really busy this week so we did a whole lot of finding! But it was great because are area is huge and there's always different places to explore and new people to meet! This is the view we caught one night from a bridge. Pretty sweet, huh?

This is Sam and Hin - ages 10 and 8. Essentially the Chinese equivalent of Kyle and Curtis. They're the best! We're teaching them and their mom and hope to start teaching their dad soon. We taught keeping the Sabbath Day holy "Blake Barnes Style" with some good old ice cream sundaes. (Please note how tiny the ice cream carton is... That's the biggest size the super market by our house had….) Editor's Note:  The idea is to put yucky stuff (i.e.the mustard and vinegar) on it and tell them that doing the wrong things on the Sabbath ruin it like these things ruin the ice cream.

This is our chapel. We meet in the Kwai Fung chapel. You head in those doors and it takes you straight up the stairs to two levels that are above some shops. We teach most of our lessons here.

Moon cakes. It's like lard that kind of tastes like peanut butter wrapped in a thin layer of dough with egg yokes in the middle. It's supposed to be a lotus flower seed but really it's pretty gross. And one cake is literally like two whole days worth of calories. No joke. We gave most of them to the Elders.

Like I said, lots of finding this week! The picture doesn't come close to doing it justice, but we went into the sketchiest apartment building ever this week. I literally felt like I was in a Chinese horror movie. Lights were blown out everywhere and exposed wires were all over the place. But there were some less actives up there and we were willing to do just about anything to go find them!! Turned out both had moved. Go figure. But we took a picture anyways. :)

Downtown Tusen Wan!!
More Downtown Tuesen Wan!

We had dinner with a member family for the Mid Autumn Festival. It was awesome!! Food here is SO good! I don't even know what half of it is to be honest...

So I bought the coolest pants known to man last week. Everything here is dirt cheap! It's great!!

Out by the ocean on a regular Saturday in the life of a missionary!

We had an awesome meeting with Elder Rasband, a President of the Seventy and the Area Presidency of Asia. It was INCREDIBLE. The whole mission came and we met in the Wan Chai building in  the heart of HK! (Picture by the rock stuff of the church)

Basically the biggest slice of pizza known to man! #AMERICANFOOD

We got to go to the temple! We're SO blessed to have a temple in our mission and be able to go!

Well that's about it. The Church is true. It just all makes sense. There is great power in remembering to do the little things. The power of prayer is real. We have a Heavenly Father and he loves us all SO much. Jesus Christ lives. Because of Him all things are possible!

Love you all! Ga yauh!

Love,
SisMoRob
