A Better Land

Leih hou ma? Dim a leih deih? Ngoh hou ngoi leih deih la!

Had the wonderful opportunity to attend the temple last Thursday, hence the late email. What a wonderful place. I don't know if it's just because Hong Kong is crazier and louder, but the contrast of being inside the temple and outside the temple is just mind blowing. It truly is the house of the Lord and the greatest place on Earth!

Nothing too crazy has happened in the last couple days, but I do have a quick thought for you!

While waiting for an investigator to show up we had some time to talk to our fellowshipper for a while and learn a little more about her.

She's just about the greatest fellowshipper in the whole world. She's always so willing to share her testimony and help us out. I think she's the only person I've met who's more passionate about missionary work than Sister Cox!
Tse Ji Muih
Sister Tse joined the church about 10 years ago. The missionaries found her in a park one day and she said she felt it was true from that very day. After she decided she wanted to be baptized her husband left her and even offered her a whole ton of money if she wouldn't get baptized. She joined the church and never looked back. She has a lot of challenges in relation to her children and has been through more than I could ever explain in an email, but she's one of the happiest people I've ever met. She has the strongest testimony of just about anyone I know and she has the greatest desire I've ever seen to share it with the whole world.

Often times we have to go through some pretty crummy things. Life throws all kinds of things at you that in all honestly, just aren't fair.

In 2 Nephi 10:20 Jacob is talking about his family leaving Jerusalem and he says,

"...we have been driven out of the land of our inheritance; but we have been led to a better land."

Sometimes things seem pretty good - we're hanging out in "the land of our inheritance" - and then  we have to go spend some time in the wilderness and even cross a pretty rocky ocean. But the beautiful promise of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that it always leads us to a better land.

"...let us remember Him, and lay aside our sins, and not hang down our heads, for we are not cast off;" (2 Nephi 10:20)

"Therefore, cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves - to choose the way of everylasting death or the way of eternal life." (vs 24)

All things are possible through Him. I'm so grateful for the oppoutunity that I had to get to know Tse Ji Muih a little more this week, and learn a little bit more about her story. She is an incredible example to me, as are so many of the amazing people here in Hong Kong. They help me remember every day to "cheer up my heart" and "choose the way of eternal life" by choosing the Savior, because He will always lead us "to a better land."

I love you all!! Ga yauh! Have a wonderful week!
